Mock Fish Cakes
Ingredients
- As needed Potatoes, peeled
- 1 Egg
- 1 tab Butter
- 2-3 tab SR flour
- As needed Oil for frying
- Onion as desired
Procedure
Peel and grate potatoes into a basin of water. Drain well, dry in a cloth and stir in beaten egg and melted butter. Stir in 2 tabs of the flour and mix well. Add more flour if required to make a batter. Fry in shallow oil turning over when underside is brown.
Can also be pressed as a single large cake into a fry pan and cooked either side until golden. Put the lid on to steam the potatoes to do the bulk of the cooking, then take it off to crip and brown at the end.
